The modern concept of this home predicated a simple geometric motif. The scored plaster ceiling and travertine floors form large square patterns, repeating the squares introduced on the entry door.
Sloping columns with a simple wood trim band create interest at the archways.
The linear concept is repeated in the details of the double fireplace wall. On the inside the horizontal bands are stained wood panels with stainless steel insets and on the outside the pattern continues in stucco relief. Pocketing invisible corner sliding glass doors create a seamless transition between the inside and outside living spaces. This side courtyard home was designed for entertaining.

At night, hidden lighting above the birch wood panels, create the illusion of a floating ceiling.
Suspended from inside the recessed center circle, the modern light fixture creates concentric circles.
The handcrafted entry door introduces the square.
The repetion of the square as a primary design element creates a geometric rhythm which continues throughout the homes interior architecture.

The geometric wall design incorporating square travertine tiles with a black mosaic grid continues the square geometric motif repeated throughout the homes interior details. The custom designed stainless steel hood was designed to blend with the geometry.

TILE DESIGNS
This mosaic border combines glass beads, ocean glass and broken glass tiles in soothing coastal colors. Above the mosaic border is a simulated stone wave chairrail that further enhances the ocean theme. Large sand colored travertine tiles are used below. The shiny white tiles above the wave reflect the colors of the glass mosaics.

The square geometric motif is repeated in the soji screen between the Butler's Pantry and the Dining Room. The square birch panel wall with recessed stainless steel recessed grid introduces a detail seen throughout the home.
